Exporting as Version History

To export your change log in the "Version History" format just follow these 5 simple steps:

Step 1 - select "Version History" as the type of export

Step 2 - Select the export settings


This is where you choose how you want the export formatted and what it should contain. Your options are:

Entries to Export
- one of the following values
·Released Entries - All change log entries that have been released for this project  
·New Entries - Only change log entries that have NOT been released for this project  

Export Format
- one of the following values
·Bracketed - the entry type is enclosed in brackets and the entry follows  
·Standard - the entry is displayed without the change log type  
·Expanded - the entry type is displayed and the entry follows  

Export Mode
- one of the following values
·Entry Order - the entries are displayed in the same order that they appear in the Release View  
·Grouped by Entry Type - the entries are sorted by the numerical value that is set in the ChangeLog Entry Type Settings section of Program Settings

Step 3 - approve and/or update the export headers and (optional) comments

The "header" is the bold text line (as shown in the examples above). It is built by default using the text and tokens set in the Export Templates section of the Program Settings.

The "comments" appear just below the header in the export. They can be predefined in the in the Export Templates section of the Program Settings or you can leave them blank. You can also use the Clear button to clear them on a case-by-case basis.


Step 4 - Preview the export


You can preview the export in Text format as shown here:

Note: in the Previewer, the Print button will print the integrated browser view of the HTML or XML as displayed.

To preview the content exactly as it will be exported, select the preview format and click this button:

Step 5 - Export the content


EZChangeLog can create multiple export formats at the same time. Your options are:

·HTML - create an HTML file of the exported content  
·TEXT - create an ASCII text file of the exported content  
·XML - create a XML file of the exported content  
·PDF - create a PDF file of the exported content  
·CLIPBOARD - place a copy of the exported content on the Windows Clipboard so that it is ready to PASTE into another program.  

To export the content select the export formats you want and click this button:

After your export is complete you will see this window:

The OPEN button will open Windows Explorer directly to the project folder where the files were exported.

Note: if you selected the CLIPBOARD export format then the content of the export will be ready to paste as soon as you see the Export Manager window shown above. You can click into your other program and use CTRL-V (or the paste button) and see the results as shown here:
